چکیده

AIM To present the application of volume rendering technique (VRT) computed tomography (CT) scan in cranio-vertebral junction (CVJ) surgeries. MATERIAL AND METHODS The authors used VRT images CT patients congenital CVJ anomalies who were subjected to various surgeries through midline posterior approach. screw entry points and courses vertebral arteries identified relation landmarks on images, preoperatively intra-operatively. RESULTS A total 15 anomalies, underwent approach, formed study group. could be effectively surgical fields. CONCLUSION We conclude that are an inexpensive user friendly tool identify insertion anomalies. They also help identifying course artery field. On whole, their use makes surgery this region, safer.

Segmentation Assisted Object Distinction for Direct Volume Rendering

Ray Casting is a direct volume rendering technique for visualizing 3D arrays of sampled data. It has vital applications in medical and biological imaging. Nevertheless, it is inherently open to cluttered classification results. It suffers from overlapping transfer function values and lacks a sufficiently powerful voxel parsing mechanism for object distinction. In this work, we are proposing an ...

Postero-lateral Approach to the Cranio-vertebral Junction: How, When and Why?

To date the postero-lateral approach represents the best strategy for the surgery of the intradural ventro-lateral lesions of the cranio-vertebral junction (CVJ). Over the years, several authors have proposed different variations of this technique, but the principle on which all are based is the ability to access to the ventral region of the brainstem and high cervical cord with minimum retract...
